Weakness

While I was getting my back waxed a couple of days ago, the woman administering what has become one of my favorite forms of torture threw out the age old "Pain is weakness leaving the body" line.  I don't really subscribe to that sort of thinking, because inevitably whatever is painful for me now will more than likely be painful for me later and I don't think pain has direct correlation with levels of weakness.

But, I've sort of been thinking about that a bit, so when Keith sent out a little email linking to this video of Krissy it all came full circle.  I love the line Keith chose to quote.

"I get the most strength from seeing myself at the weakest point"
Krissy Moehl.

I think there is a lot of overlap with this mentality (which I share with Krissy) in my running and my yoga.  I like to see myself at my weak point but only because I know those points are unique and special, each one different than all of the others.  As my practice evolves, as my running evolves, I know there will always be more weak points to experience.  The more familiar I am with the weak points in my past, the more confident I am that I can navigate through the ones in my future.

  1. Dude. Pain is hair leaving the body.

Krissy is awesome. And that terrain makes me miss the mainland! So much variation. Gorgeous.
